Auto-replies

Send an automatic confirmation email to the people who fill in your form, with their own answers in the text.

Auto-replies are available on Pro. When someone submits your form, Nisuform emails them a confirmation, so they know their message arrived.

Turn on auto-replies

  1. Make sure the form has an Email field in the form builder. The auto-reply goes to that address.
  2. Open Settings, Email and turn on Auto-reply to submitters.
  3. Write a Subject and Message, or leave both empty to send the default text.
  4. Save.

The default subject is "We received your message", and the default message is "Thanks for reaching out. We got your message and will get back to you soon."

Use answers in the text

Insert an answer with the field's name in double braces, and a field's label with .label:

PlaceholderBecomes
{{name}}The answer to the field named name.
{{name.label}}The label of the field named name, like "Your name".
Hi {{name}},

Thanks for getting in touch. We read every message and will reply to {{email}} within one business day.

The Acme team

The dashboard shows the available fields as chips under the Message box. Select one to insert it. Up to 5 different fields are filled in per email, and a placeholder for a field that wasn't answered is left as it is.

Who receives it

The auto-reply goes to the answer of the form's first Email field. If the form has no Email field, Nisuform uses the first answer that looks like an email address. The dashboard warns you when the form has no Email field.

No auto-reply is sent when:

  • the address is missing or isn't a valid email address,
  • the same address already got an auto-reply from this form in the last 24 hours, so one person submitting twice gets one reply,
  • the submission went to the spam folder, or
  • it is a test submission from the dashboard.

How it looks

Auto-replies are plain text emails from Nisuform's sending address with the sender name nisuform. Keep them short and useful, and don't use them for marketing. Recipients didn't sign up for a newsletter by filling in your form.

On the Free plan

The switch shows a Pro badge on the Free plan, and auto-replies are not sent. If a Pro team moves back to Free, auto-replies stop until it upgrades again, and your text is kept.
