# A Squarespace contact form that keeps every submission

Where Squarespace form submissions go, why the emails go missing, and how to add a custom contact form in a Code block that saves every submission and emails you. Works on every plan.

Updated Oct 29, 2026.

A Squarespace form block sends each submission to the storage options you connect, such as an email address, a Google Drive spreadsheet, Mailchimp or Zapier. If the form has a required email field, Squarespace also saves the submission with that person in your **Contacts** panel. Without one, it keeps the submission for 30 days.

When the emails stop arriving, it's usually one of these:

* **The site is on a trial.** Trial sites don't send form emails unless the owner is a Squarespace Circle partner. Use Google Drive storage until the site is paid for.
* **The wrong address.** Each form sends to one address, and by default that's the account email of whoever added the form.
* **Spam filtering.** Check your spam folder and mark the notifications as safe.
* **A stale Google Drive connection.** Google required Squarespace forms to be reconnected to Drive by October 23, 2024. Older connections may have stopped saving.

## When a custom form helps

A Nisuform form goes in a **Code** block. Every submission stays in your Nisuform inbox until you delete it, whether or not the form asks for an email, and you can search and export them to CSV. The same form can run on another site with the same inbox. On Pro, submissions can go to Slack, Discord, Telegram, Google Sheets or a signed webhook, and you can send notifications to any address.

## Add the styled form

The styled embed uses JavaScript, which Squarespace allows in Code blocks on the **Core**, **Plus** and **Advanced** plans.

### Design the form

[Create a form](https://app.nisuform.com) in Nisuform, add your fields, and pick a theme and accent color that suit your site. Save.

### Copy the embed code

On the form's **Setup** tab, choose **Site builder**, then **Squarespace**, then **Copy the embed code**.

### Paste it into a Code block

Edit the page, add a **Code** block where the form goes, paste the code and save the page.

### Send a test

Open the live page, wait two seconds and send. The submission should be in your inbox and your email within seconds.

## On plans without JavaScript

On Basic, or any plan that doesn't allow scripts in Code blocks, use a plain HTML form. It posts without JavaScript, and visitors see the Nisuform thank-you page afterwards.

```html title="Code block"
<form action="https://api.nisuform.com/s/YOUR_FORM_KEY" method="POST">
  <label for="name">Name</label>
  <input id="name" type="text" name="name" autocomplete="name" required>
  <label for="email">Email</label>
  <input id="email" type="email" name="email" autocomplete="email" required>
  <label for="message">Message</label>
  <textarea id="message" name="message" rows="5" required></textarea>
  <input type="text" name="_gotcha" tabindex="-1" autocomplete="off" style="display:none">
  <button type="submit">Send</button>
</form>
```

On Pro, set a [redirect](/docs/forms/after-submit) in the form's settings to send visitors to a thank-you page on your Squarespace site instead.

## Spam

Every submission goes through a honeypot, a fill-time check, rate limits, and link and duplicate checks. Spam goes to its own folder, doesn't notify you and doesn't count toward your limit. If spam still gets through, turn on [Cloudflare Turnstile](/docs/protection/turnstile), and add your domain to the form's [allowed websites](/docs/protection/access-rules) so other sites can't post to it.

## Frequently asked questions

### Where do Squarespace contact form submissions go?

To the storage options you connect in the form block, such as an email address, a Google Drive spreadsheet, Mailchimp or Zapier. If the form has a required email field, the submission is also saved with that contact in Squarespace's Contacts panel. Without a required email field, Squarespace keeps it for 30 days.

### Why am I not getting Squarespace form emails?

Trial sites don't get form emails, unless the owner is a Squarespace Circle partner. On a paid site, each form sends to one address, which defaults to the account email of whoever added the form, so check which address the form's storage uses and look in your spam folder.

### Which Squarespace plan do I need for a custom form?

A plain HTML form works in a Code block on any plan. The styled embed uses JavaScript, and JavaScript in Code blocks needs the Core, Plus or Advanced plan.

### Can I send Squarespace form submissions to Slack or a webhook?

With a Nisuform form on Pro, yes. Each submission can go to Slack, Discord, Telegram or Google Sheets, or to any URL as a signed webhook.

### Will the form stop spam?

Yes. Every submission is checked with a honeypot, a fill-time check, rate limits, and link and duplicate checks, and Cloudflare Turnstile is available on every plan. Spam goes to its own folder and doesn't count toward your limit.
