# Export submissions

Download a form's submissions as a CSV file that opens in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets.

Every plan can export submissions. Exports are CSV files, and your submissions stay in your account after you export them.

## Export

1. Open the form's **Inbox**.
2. Pick a filter: **All**, **Unread**, **Starred** or **Spam**. The export contains the submissions in that filter.
3. Choose **Export CSV**.

The file is named after the form, like `contact-form-submissions.csv`, and downloads right away, even with thousands of submissions.

## Columns

| Column | Contains |
| -------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `id` | The submission ID. |
| `created_at` | When it was received, in UTC, like `2026-09-24T10:00:00.000Z`. |
| `read` | `true` or `false`. |
| `starred` | `true` or `false`. |
| `is_spam` | `true` or `false`. |
| `is_test` | `true` for test submissions sent from the dashboard. |
| One column per field | The answers, in alphabetical order of field name. |

Rows are sorted newest first. A field that a submission didn't include is left empty.

## Opening the file

* The file is UTF-8 with a byte order mark, so Excel shows accents, emoji and non-Latin scripts correctly.
* Answers that start with `=`, `+`, `-`, `@`, a tab or a carriage return get a leading apostrophe, so a spreadsheet never runs them as formulas.
* Uploaded files are not included. Download them from each submission.
