# Slack

Post every new form submission to a Slack channel with an incoming webhook.

The Slack integration is available on Pro. Each submission arrives in the channel you pick, with every answer and a button that opens it in Nisuform.

## Connect Slack

### Create a Slack app

Go to [api.slack.com/apps](https://api.slack.com/apps), choose **Create New App**, then **From scratch**. Name it something like "Website forms" and pick your workspace.

### Add an incoming webhook

Open **Incoming Webhooks** and turn it on. Choose **Add New Webhook** and pick the channel. Copy the webhook URL. It starts with `https://hooks.slack.com/`.

### Paste it into Nisuform

Open the form's **Integrations** tab, choose **Slack** and paste the URL. Then choose **Send test** and check the channel.

URLs from Slack Workflow Builder triggers, which start with `https://hooks.slack.com/triggers/` or `https://hooks.slack.com/workflows/`, work too.

## The message

* A header with **New submission:** and the form name.
* One section per answer, with the field's label in bold. Empty answers show as *Empty*.
* An **Open in nisuform** button that opens the submission in your inbox.
* Test submissions say "Test submission sent from the nisuform dashboard".

Very long answers are shortened, and forms with many fields show the first ones and a note like "3 more fields in nisuform".

## Troubleshooting

| Error                         | Fix                                                                                          |
| ----------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Slack answered 404 or 410     | The webhook or the app was removed. Create a new webhook and paste its URL.                  |
| Slack answered 403            | The app was uninstalled or lost access to the channel. Reinstall it or create a new webhook. |
| Slack answered a `3xx` status | The URL isn't a Slack webhook URL. Copy it again from **Incoming Webhooks**.                 |

To post to a different channel, add a new webhook for that channel in your Slack app and paste its URL.
